Certified Cranial Sacral Therapist

My journey towards Craniosacral Therapy (CST) began at age 12 when I read a book about a boy who could heal with his hands. I marveled that such a thing was even possible and imagined what it would be like if I had the same ability.

Now, many years later, I am a Certified Cranial Sacral Therapist, using my hands to assist others on their path toward healing and wholeness.

I have always had a strong spiritual nature and a desire to be of service. At age 13, I felt compelled to learn to meditate after reading a book by Edgar Cayce. Amazingly, there was a group that offered meditation training in Calgary where I grew up. Meditation has been an important part of my life ever since.

In my early twenties, I moved to Toronto, which is where my healing journey began in earnest. It was there that I met teachers who changed my life and where I was given incredible opportunities for personal growth. Over the years, I learned a number of different healing modalities, including: Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, Aura-Soma Colour Therapy, Tellington TTouch for Companion Animals and Flower Essence Therapy.

For years, I had heard about the benefits of CST and wanted to take the training. Ultimately, it was animals who brought me to CranioSacral Therapy and who were my first patients and teachers.

I discovered that the Upledger Institute in Florida offered training in CranioSacral Therapy for animals. As a Certified Tellington TTouch Practitioner for Companion Animals, I felt that CST would add another level of balance to my work with animals. I enquired about classes, but none were being offered at the time. Several years later, after I had already moved to North Vancouver, I received a call from the Upledger Institute about a CST for Small Animals course being offered in Boston. I enrolled immediately.

What I hadn't expected in the animal class was that we would first practice the techniques with each other before applying them to animals. This was my first real introduction to CST as a patient--and I liked it. In fact, I liked it so much that I took the CST training for humans several months later and began having regular CST treatments myself.

From there, my love of animals and the ocean drew me to Upledger's CranioSacral Dolphin-Assisted Therapy Program. I took the first level of training in the Bahamas in 2007. I was now officially hooked on the healing benefits of CranioSacral Therapy.

I continue to take advanced CST classes with the Upledger Institute and am a graduate of the Cranial Sacral Certificate Program at Langara College in Vancouver, B.C. To me, what I do is still miraculous. I am constantly filled with wonder and awe at the body's innate intelligence and self-healing ability. As a Certified Cranial Sacral Therapist, I am honoured to help people and animals gently return to balance through the healing power of this compassionate, light touch.
