Alexis Wright, R.M.T.Registered Massage Therapist
 |
My roots are in Prince George, where I grew up in a family that practiced a healthy lifestyle of diet, exercise and other preventative health measures. As a family, we regularly had massage therapy sessions and visits to a Naturopathic Physician for health "check ups" and were educated about healthy lifestyle practices. I played a lot of high school sports as a teenager so my visits to alternative health practitioners helped me stay healthy and in the game. I believe my parents instilled in my brother and I the value of good health. |
Living in a small town, our massage therapist also became a very good family friend and at age 16, my RMT became my mentor. I was well informed of the rigorous schooling required to become registered here in BC so I opted to move to Whistler at this time before attending massage school. I loved the active lifestyle that is part of the Whistler experience, staying for four snowboarding filled years working as a receptionist at what was then called The Spa at the Chateau Whistler. Several massage therapists at the Chateau then mentored me and assisted me in my decision to take the Registered Massage Therapy program at West Coast College of Massage Therapy here in Vancouver. I entered the program in January 2000, graduating 3 years later in December 2002. For the last 5 years, I've worked in 2 locations, downtown Vancouver and North Vancouver, continuing to learn more about my chosen profession and increase my skill set with extra courses and more hands on training.
Personally, my interests include yoga, pilates, meditation, music and anything to do with healing and the healing arts. I love to learn new things and continually expand my knowledge base not only in subjects related to Massage Therapy, but all aspects of natural health.
My goal is to provide the best, most thorough care that is specific to my clients' needs. I look forward to a long, fulfilling career as an RMT and working closely with all the other practitioners here at The Foundation for Integrated Health.
Famous Last Words…
"Be the star of your own creation. How you feel about yourself and the world at large directly affects the functions and operating system of your physical form. Your feelings always follow your beliefs, meaning that how you feel is a result of what you believe. The belief in a vital, healthy existence is one of the wisest beliefs to embrace. The key to vital health is the ability to sustain love for yourself and excitement for life. You are the star of your own creation".
- quote from Chris Cromack my yoga instructor
